Ninety-three employees are out of work at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort.
President and CEO Bob Griffin announced the layoffs Friday. They will reduce the work force by 4 percent, for a new total of 2,076 workers.
The cuts affect nonessential personnel like maintenance workers and carpenters.
Griffin said it's critical to reduce operating expenses so Mountaineer can remain competitive in a tough economy. While its table game play is strong, revenues from slot machines fell by $4 million in the third quarter.
