The Dillard's Inc. department store chain says it is eliminating about 500 jobs from its workforce of 60,000 people.
A news release sent out on Friday evening calls the job cuts a "strategic staff reduction" and part of the the company's "ongoing efforts to reduce operating expenses."
The release says the jobs to be cut include about 60 in Little Rock, where the company is based and employs approximately 2,400 people.
